Monogram Club Musings – Virginia Tech Weekend

Nov 21, 2016, 12:51 PM EDT

Monogram Club executive director Brant Ust ('00, baseball) with fellow baseball Monogram winner Trey Mancini ('14). Mancini, a current member of the Baltimore Orioles, was the guest speaker at the Monogram Club's pre-game reception.

With the overlap of fall and winter sports it made for a busy athletics weekend on the Notre Dame campus. It appeared as though Mother Nature didn’t know if it was fall or winter as South Bend enjoyed 70-degree weather on Thursday and Friday before seeing its first snowfall of the season on Saturday.

The Monogram Club was happy to host its members and guests inside the warm confines of the Schivarelli Players’ Lounge and the Monogram Room. It was great to see so many members, whether returning for the first time this season or the sixth, taking part in the festivities.

It’s been a tremendous fall for Monogram Club activities, including the culmination of the 100th anniversary celebration, and the Club thanks its members for their continued support!

Take a look back at Virginia Tech weekend…

Notre Dame’s hockey and men’s basketball teams both captured home victories on Friday night.

Thank you to the cheerleading squad for making it to all of the Monogram Club’s pre-game receptions to pump up the crowd and visit with members and their families.

Away from campus on Saturday Fighting Irish sophomore Anna Rohrer finished third at the NCAA Championships.

It was a successful Sunday for a pair of Fighting Irish teams playing at home. The women’s basketball squad claimed the WNIT title with a 71-60 victory over Washington and the men’s soccer team produced a 1-0 win over Loyola (Ill.) in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

A couple Monogram winners experienced professional firsts on Sunday as C.J. Prosise scored his first NFL touchdown and Vinnie Hinostroza tallied his first NHL goal.
