Monogram Club Musings – Michigan State Weekend

Sep 19, 2016, 11:08 AM EST

George Goeddeke ('67, football) and Monogram Club executive director Brant Ust ('00, baseball).

While Fighting Irish fans would like to forget Saturday night’s final score, this past weekend did offer some memorable moments and the Monogram Club was happy to be in the middle of it all!

The athletics department and the Monogram Club were thrilled to welcome back 1966 football team members, their families and guests for the 50th reunion of their national championship campaign. Over 80 members of that special squad were back and they took part in several activities, including a dinner Friday night, a pre-game tailgate and an on-field recognition prior to Saturday’s showdown.

The Lou’s Lads Foundation held its annual dinner and meeting on campus. This year’s event took place Friday evening inside O’Brien’s at the Compton Family Ice Arena.

With so many different eras of Fighting Irish football back in town, it was fitting that the Monogram Club held its pre-game tunnel for football/senior football manager Monogram winners. The Club was happy to once again offer this unique benefit to its members. A reminder that the all-Monogram Club tunnel will take place prior to the Miami game (Oct. 29) during the Club’s 100th anniversary celebration weekend.

As always, it was great seeing so many Monogram winners back on campus!
