Over the weekend the Club hosted its final home football events of the season, beginning with Friday’s Schivarelli Players’ Lounge reception, which was open to all Monogram Club members.
The reception wasn’t the only event on campus as three Fighting Irish teams were in action. The women’s soccer squad opened NCAA tournament play with a resounding 5-0 victory over Oakland, while the men’s basketball team dropped its ACC championship banner before dropping Saint Francis (Pa.) 87-56 in the season opener. Hockey tied Northeastern, 2-2, a night after notching a 3-2 victory over the Huskies.
Saturday featured yet another packed house in the Monogram Room for our pre-game reception. Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan, an honorary Monogram Club member, was the featured speaker.
Fighting Irish fans then spilled into Notre Dame Stadium to watch the Senior Day ceremony. Twenty-eight senior players were recognized prior to the 28-7 victory over Wake Forest. It was the 21st home victory for the departing senior class. That signifies a program record for a single class.
The weekend was capped off Sunday with the Fighting Irish women’s basketball team opening their campaign with an 85-54 win over Bucknell inside Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. It was the 700th victory at Notre Dame for head coach, and honorary Monogram recipient, Muffet McGraw.
