As part of the Monogram Club’s ongoing 100th anniversary celebration, some of the Club’s many connections to each Notre Dame program will be highlighted. This first installment of the “Monogram Club Turns 100” series looks at how the Monogram Club and the Fighting Irish volleyball program have been connected throughout the years.
Volleyball’s Monogram Moments
The 1980 campaign was the first varsity season for the Notre Dame volleyball team. Since gaining varsity status, the program has made 18 NCAA Championship appearances.
Carolyn Cooper (’06) is the most recent volleyball alumnae to serve on the Monogram Club Board of Directors. Cooper was on the board from 2011-14.
The Monogram Club Postgraduate Scholarship, which is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete, was established in 2009 and volleyball’s Mallorie Croal was the first female recipient.
As part of the team hosting program, the Monogram Club funded the volleyball team’s Venetian gondola ride during the squad’s 2013 trip to Italy.
