As we prepare to turn the calendar to 2015, it is once again time to look back on another great year for Notre Dame and the Monogram Club. Over the next several days, we’ll continue to recap the significant Monogram initiatives, events and accomplishments from 2014. Our penultimate post of the year looks back at a special Monogram tradition in November…
Nearly 300 student-athletes, parents, coaches and athletics staff members gathered to celebrate in November, as the Monogram Club welcomed 115 first-time Monogram recipients to the organization at the fall letter jacket ceremony.
Established in 2008, the letter jacket ceremony has grown into a unique way to commemorate a significant milestone in a student’s career at Notre Dame. This fall’s ceremony recognized student-athletes from Notre Dame’s winter and spring sports, as well as student managers for the football and hockey programs.
Speakers included Monogram Club President Haley Scott DeMaria (’95, swimming), University Vice President/Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick (’76), women’s basketball alumna Ruth Riley (’01) and softball sophomore Karley Wester, who reflected on the experience of earning her first Monogram.
