12 Months of Monogram: March 2014

Dec 21, 2014, 9:36 AM EST

For one of the Club's stops on the "Tobacco Road Tour," Monogram winners and their families gathered at Top of the Hill before Notre Dame men's lacrosse took on UNC.

As we prepare to turn the calendar to 2015, it is once again time to look back on another great year for Notre Dame and the Monogram Club. Over the next several days, we’ll continue to recap the significant Monogram initiatives, events and accomplishments from 2014. March takes us to Tobacco Road….

While July 1, 2013 marked Notre Dame’s first official day as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, it was this past winter when the Fighting Irish truly made their presence known in the ACC. Over the course of six days in late February and early March, seven Irish teams competed in the state of North Carolina, home to four of the conference’s institutions.

As we continue to seek opportunities to connect with Monogram winners around the country and support our teams on the road, members of the Monogram Club staff made the trip to the Research Triangle for a number of events.

The weekend itinerary included three games at the University of North Carolina (women’s lacrosse, men’s lacrosse and men’s basketball), the ACC Championships for men’s swimming & diving in Greensboro, the USA Baseball-Irish Classic in Cary, and a women’s hoops matchup at North Carolina State (Not to mention, women’s tennis took on Duke at the same time as the baseball game).

On Friday, the Club hosted a gathering in conjunction with the Fighting Irish baseball team’s game against defending champion UCLA at the USA National Training Complex. On Saturday morning, Monogram members and staff met up at Top of the Hill, a Chapel Hill staple, prior to the men’s lacrosse game against the Tar Heels.

The Club also joined up with ND Women Connect and the Notre Dame Club of Eastern Carolina for a brunch before the women’s basketball game on Sunday.

As the Fighting Irish continue to compete in their new conference home, there are sure to be several opportunities for Monogram winners, fans and alumni to catch their teams in action on the Atlantic coast and around the country. Hopefully it won’t be long before the scheduling stars align again, and the Club can plan another road trip to catch up with our members and cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame!

Have a look below for some highlights of the trip in just 30 seconds, and read the Monogram Club Musings for a full recap.
