In the 98-year history of the Notre Dame Monogram Club, varsity letters have been awarded in a number of ways. Many alumni recall picking up their Monogram award at the equipment room. Since 2008, the Club has been recognizing the accomplishment of earning a first Monogram with a special letter jacket ceremony.

This evening, the Monogram Club will host its 2014 fall letter jacket ceremony, in celebration of more than 110 first-time Monogram winners. Parents, family members, coaches and athletics staff will gather in Club Naimoli to recognize the outstanding achievements of Notre Dame student-athletes. The letter jacket ceremony is held twice annually, with the fall event honoring the University’s winter and spring programs.

Executive Director Brant Ust (’00, baseball) will emcee the event. Featured speakers include Monogram Club President Haley Scott DeMaria (’95, swimming) and University Vice President/Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick (’76), and the ceremony will also include an alumni reflection by Ruth Riley (’01, basketball) and a few remarks from softball student-athlete Karley Wester.

Earning a Monogram has always been a significant achievement in the life of a Notre Dame student-athlete, but since the introduction of the letter jacket ceremony, it has become an even more unforgettable milestone.

In preparation for the big night, we’ll be sharing content from previous letter jacket ceremonies on social media throughout the day. We also look forward to recapping tonight’s event with the best letter jacket photos, videos and tweets in the coming days, so make sure to follow @NDMonogram on Twitter and Instagram, and like us on Facebook.

In the meantime, here are a couple letter jacket recaps to check out:
