This past weekend, members of the Monogram Club’s Board of Directors returned to campus for the Club’s winter board meeting, and once again, the Club teamed up with the Student Welfare & Development office to host another great luncheon for student-athletes from the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Rosenthal Leadership Academy.
Close to 50 student-athletes gathered in Club Naimoli for an opportunity to enjoy lunch and network with those who wore the blue and gold before them, and have since moved on to successful careers in business, law, and dentistry, among other professions.
Following lunch, Monogram Club president Haley Scott DeMaria (’95, swimming) and Monogram Club SAAC Liaison Logan Renwick, a senior on the track & field team welcomed everyone to the event, before passing the mic to SWD program director Duke Preston, who emceed a “speed dating” networking game.
Student-athletes paired up with Monogram board members, and had just a couple minutes to network before rotating around the room. Duke led the discussions with directed questions, ranging from the serious (“How has Notre Dame impacted your professional career?”) to the more lighthearted (“Who’s your favorite superhero?”).
After the activity, student-athletes had a chance to reconnect with any of the board members they hoped to speak with further or chat with others who they might not have had a chance to meet.
As has the been the case following previous Monogram/SAAC Luncheons, when the board returned to the Monogram Room for the afternoon session of the meeting, many members were singing the praises of Notre Dame’s student-athlete leaders, and speaking about how meaningful and enjoyable of an event the luncheon has become.
