Believe it or not, 2014 is approaching faster than the snow is falling in South Bend. The turning of the calendar is just a few days away, and in celebration of a terrific 2013, we are looking back at a year’s worth of Monogram Club events, accomplishments and great Notre Dame camaraderie. After June’s football fantasy camp, “12 Months of Monogram” focuses on the current student-athletes in July…
Throughout the year, the Monogram Club works closely with a number of other offices within the athletics department, perhaps none more than the Student Welfare & Development office. With programs and activities designed to build community and empower student-athletes to reach their full potential, SWD is committed to the total development of Notre Dame’s young men and women.
From the career mentoring program to the letter jacket ceremony, the Monogram Club and SWD staffs collaborate frequently, seeking to strengthen the relationship between current and former student-athletes, uphold and build the traditions of Notre Dame athletics.
The Rosenthal Leadership Academy, for example, helps target emerging leaders on each of Notre Dame’s 26 athletic teams. On three occasions throughout the year, SWD organizes an RLA retreat. This July, 31 student-athletes from 11 teams headed to Bair Lake in Jones, Mich. for a 24-hour getaway.
