Believe it or not, 2014 is approaching faster than the snow is falling in South Bend. The turning of the calendar is just a few days away, and in celebration of a terrific 2013, we are looking back at a year’s worth of Monogram Club events, accomplishments and great Notre Dame camaraderie. After the madness of March, “12 Months of Monogram” returns to campus for April…

During Blue-Gold weekend, the Monogram Club awarded former president Marty Allen (’58, manager) with the 2013 Moose Krause Distinguished Service Award at An Evening With The Monogram Club in the Joyce Center’s Sports Heritage Hall.

More than 200 guests were in attendance, including Allen’s wife, Sue, his children Mike (’88), Steve and Kat, and his six grandchildren.

Former Monogram Club executive director and current deputy athletics director Jim Fraleigh (’88, manager) introduced Allen, speaking about their close relationship and the numerous lifetime accomplishments of the former Irish head football manager.

The program also featured a special conversation with outgoing Monogram Club president Dick Nussbaum (’74, ’77, baseball) and incoming president Haley Scott DeMaria (’95, swimming). The duo reflected upon Nussbaum’s tenure as president and looked ahead to the Club under DeMaria’s leadership.
