Believe it or not, 2014 is approaching faster than the snow is falling in South Bend. The turning of the calendar is just a few days away, and in celebration of a terrific 2013, we are looking back at a year’s worth of Monogram Club events, accomplishments and great Notre Dame camaraderie. After January’s visit to Miami, “12 Months of Monogram” returns home to South Bend…

In February, 27 former club players, coaches and members of the first Notre Dame varsity women’s basketball team (1977) visited campus for a special reunion weekend centered around the Irish’s Pink Zone game against Cincinnati.

The weekend began on Friday with a happy hour and dinner at Rocco’s. Before Saturday’s game, the reunion group formed a tunnel for the current Irish team to run through, and during a timeout, was honored with a brief recognition on the video board.

Following Notre Dame’s 64-42 win over the Bearcats, the former players had a chance to meet with head coach Muffet McGraw in the team room, where they discussed the growth of the sport and the opportunities that have emerged since their pioneering season more than 35 years ago.
